Neil Patrick Harris Among Newly Chosen Members of TCG Honorary Committee

Honorary-Committee-20010101

Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre, and LA Stage Alliance, the leading service provider for the performing arts in greater Los Angeles, are proud to announce the 2011 TCG National Conference Honorary Committee of distinguished artists who have had impressive careers on stage, screen and with the written word.

The TCG Honorary Committee as of May 17 includes: Jason Alexander, Ray Bradbury, Beau Bridges, John Cho, Gordon Davidson, Richard Dreyfuss, Jane Fonda, Ed Harris, Neil Patrick Harris, Allison Janney, Jane Kaczmarek, Alec Mapa, Gates McFadden, Laurie Metcalf, Alfred Molina, Chris Pine, Phylicia Rashad, Tim Robbins, James Roday, Herbert Siguenza and Noah Wyle.

The Honorary Committee members were chosen because of their deep engagement and significant commitment to live theatre over the years.

"On behalf of TCG Board of Directors, and our conference host LA Stage Alliance, we are honored to have such an inspiring and notable group of actors, writers, directors, producers, musicians and activists serve on the committee," said Teresa Eyring, executive director of TCG. "In this role, these individuals are publically showing their support of theatre and professing the value it has in this country and beyond these borders."

The TCG National Conference in Los Angles from June 16 to 18 will draw 1,000 theatre practitioners from around the world - and will kick off TCG's year-long 50th anniversary celebration. At this historic conference and throughout the 50th anniversary year, TCG along with the theatre community will explore the central creative question "What if?" in order to imagine the theatre field of the next 50 years, and begin making visible progress today.

TCG has received generous support for the conference from national and local conference sponsors, including The Ahmanson Foundation, The Boeing Company, The Ruth Easton Fund, The Edgerton Foundation, Los Angeles County Arts Commission, Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, National Endowment for the Arts and Wells Fargo.

For full bios of the Honorary Committee and more conference information, visit: www.tcg.org/conference. The deadline to register for the TCG National Conference is June 1.

In conjunction with its conference, TCG has collaborated with the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, Center Theatre Group, LA Stage Alliance, REDCAT, The Under the Radar Office at New York's Public Theater and the Los Angeles Theatre Center, to present RADAR L.A. from June 14 to 19. The international festival of Contemporary Theatre from the U.S. and around the world will have a special emphasis on artists from Los Angeles, Latin America and the Pacific Rim. A schedule of performances is available at: http://www.redcat.org/radar-la/schedule.

ABOUT THEATRE COMMUNICATIONS GROUP

For 50 years, Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for the American theatre, has existed to strengthen, nurture and promote the professional not-for-profit American theatre. Founded in 1961, TCG's constituency has grown from a handful of groundbreaking theatres to nearly 700 member theatres and affiliate organizations and more than 12,000 individuals nationwide. TCG offers its members networking and knowledge-building opportunities through conferences, events, research and communications; grants approximately $2 million per year to theatre companies and individual artists; advocates on the federal level and serves as the US Center of the InterNational Theatre Institute, connecting its constituents to the global theatre community.

TCG is the nation's largest independent publisher of dramatic literature, with 11 Pulitzer Prizes for Best Play on our booklist; it also publishes the award-winning AMERICAN THEATRE magazine and ARTSEARCH®, the essential source for a career in the arts. In all of its endeavors, TCG seeks to increase the organizational efficiency of its member theatres, cultivate and celebrate the artistic talent and achievements of the field and promote a larger public understanding of, and appreciation for, the theatre. www.tcg.org
